The four unlock methods, explained
Not every kaiju in Kaiju Alpha unlocks the same way. Knowing which method applies before you start grinding saves you from farming the wrong currency or hitting an unexpected wall.
U-cell shop — the standard path
The majority of unlockable kaiju sit in the U-cell shop at a fixed (though patch-variable) price. You accumulate U-cells through gameplay, Boss Rush, Arena chests, Breach Point loops, and Daily contracts being the main sources, then purchase from the in-game unlock menu. No RNG involved. Costs in the tracker above are community-observed ranges; always check the in-game price before committing, since minor patch adjustments happen without announcement. Evolution fusion — Orga's path
Orga is the only current kaiju using an evolution fusion unlock. You need Godzilla 1954 levelled to 35, one Godzilla 2000 DNA drop, and one Orca core fragment. The DNA drops from the Millennium boss at roughly a 17% per-kill rate, which puts the average farming window at somewhere between 6 and 10 kills, but with a 17% rate, variance is real; some players finish in 3 kills, others take 15+. Gacha pulls — Destoroyah Form 4
Destoroyah Form 4 currently sits behind the gacha pull system rather than a flat shop purchase. Community tracking puts the observed pull count at 140 to 170 before landing Form 4, with a Level ~30 entry requirement. Gacha introduces RNG variance that flat purchases avoid, you might hit it in 80 pulls or need 220. Event-only kaiju
Some forms only appear during time-limited event windows and disappear from the unlock menu afterward. The tracker flags these where confirmed. SULU KAKA does not reliably rerun events on a predictable schedule, so if a kaiju is marked event-only and the event is currently active, that is effectively a timed unlock. Check the active events panel in-game first before assuming a listed kaiju is permanently available.
A practical unlock order for new players
I went through roughly three different unlock strategies before landing on what actually worked. Here is the sequence I would follow now if starting fresh.
- 01Play the free starters until you hit Level 10. Godzilla 1954 is playable, not dead weight. The Arena unlocks at Level 10 and chest farming there is the second-best passive U-cell rate, getting there on starters costs nothing.
- 02Buy Suko (~350 U-cells) as your first paid unlock. Suko's mobility makes early-game PvP more forgiving to learn on, and the 350 U-cell price is low enough that you will not set back your savings for a long time. Most players who skip directly to higher-cost A-tier are using a kaiju they are not skilled enough to leverage yet.

The Orga fusion path: what no one tells you
Orga is a high A-tier raid kaiju whose unlock path is fundamentally different from everything else in the game. It does not sit in the U-cell shop. The three-component requirement (Level 35 Godzilla 1954, Godzilla 2000 DNA, Orca core fragment) makes it feel daunting at first, but the actual bottleneck is almost always the DNA drop.
Why the 17% drop rate is trickier than it sounds: At 17% per kill, the expected number of kills to get one drop is roughly six. But expected value and actual experience diverge fast at low sample sizes. About 14% of players will need more than 10 kills, meaning one in seven players will spend nearly double the expected time on this step. If you are hitting kill 8 and still empty-handed, that is normal variance, not a glitch.
Common mistake: Starting the Millennium boss farm before reaching Level 35 on Godzilla 1954. The DNA drops register but you cannot trigger the fusion until the level condition is met, so you end up with a DNA item sitting in your inventory waiting. The level grind still has to happen.
