Kaiju Alpha: How to Get Mothra

Mothra unlocks over three evolutions, not one purchase. Pick where you are on the roadmap below and see exactly what is left.

TL;DR: Mothra fast version

  • Path: Larvae (Level 20, 350 U-cells, Egg Fragment) then Cocoon (Level 35, Silk Thread from the dual-phase boss) then Queen (Level 55, Pollen Core)
  • Longest single grind: the Silk Thread farm on the Mothra boss event, about 9 hours
  • Total estimate: about 79 hours from a fresh account to Queen
  • Most players stop at Cocoon: it already has a usable AoE kit without the Queen level gate

Mothra Larvae

~15h

Mobile, area-coverage kit added in Update 25. The entry point to the whole line.

Kaiju Level 20+EASY~6h

The Larvae evolution option stays greyed out below Level 20. Arena matches level fastest early on.

350 U-cellsEASY~3h

Direct currency cost for the base Mothra unlock, separate from the Egg Fragment material.

Mothra Egg FragmentMEDIUM~5h

Drops at roughly 18 percent per Breach Point event clear, based on community tracking. Plan on 4 to 6 runs.

Complete the Egg Hatch missionEASY~1h

A short one-time mission that triggers once you hold an Egg Fragment. Takes one server session.

LockedMothra Cocoon (Stage 2 · mid evolution)~27h · preview

Where the kit starts pulling weight. Needs the Silk Thread boss farm to progress.

Kaiju Level 35+MEDIUM~10h

Cocoon's gate sits well past the Larvae threshold. Keep running arena and event content in parallel with the Silk Thread farm below.

900 U-cellsMEDIUM~6h

The Cocoon fusion cost, observed in the evolution menu as of Update 25.

3x Mothra Silk ThreadHARD~9h

Drops at roughly 22 percent per phase cleared on the Mothra dual-phase boss event, the same fight referenced in the arena stage guide. Budget several boss windows.

Complete the Metamorphosis Trial missionEASY~2h

Unlocks once you hold at least one Silk Thread. A multi-phase fight, usually 1 to 2 sessions to clear.

LockedMothra Queen (Stage 3 · final form)~37h · preview

Sustained-fire endgame form. The most expensive single leg of the climb.

Kaiju Level 55+HARD~14h

The highest level gate on the Mothra line. Most players clear this while farming the Pollen Core below.

1400 U-cellsMEDIUM~9h

The largest single U-cell cost on the Mothra path. Redeem active codes before you start saving.

Queen Pollen CoreHARD~11h

Drops at roughly 12 percent from the Lunar Event, a night-cycle spawn separate from the daytime Breach Point rotation.

Complete the Queen's Ascension alliance missionMEDIUM~3h

A one-time alliance mission that opens after your first Pollen Core drop, similar in structure to other kaiju alliance missions.

About these estimates

Drop rates (Egg Fragment ~18%, Silk Thread ~22%, Pollen Core ~12%) come from community tracking, not official patch notes. Hours assume active farming on populated servers. Always check the exact recipe in your evolution menu before spending materials, since SULU KAKA adjusts costs without advance notice.

Where players usually are in this climb

Three real starting points. Load one to jump the roadmap straight to that position.

Day 2 player

Just started

No Mothra yet. First target is the Egg Fragment and the Level 20 gate.

Week 1 player

Larvae done, stuck on Silk Thread

Farming the dual-phase boss for Silk Thread drops. This is the point most players stall.

Dedicated grinder

Cocoon done, chasing Queen

Level 55 and the Pollen Core are the last wall before the Queen fusion.

How long the Mothra climb actually takes at your pace

79 hours of active farming spreads very differently depending on how much you actually play per day. Here is what that looks like in calendar time.

Play paceTo LarvaeTo CocoonTo QueenTotal
Casual (30 min/day)1 month+1.8 months+2.5 months~5.3 months total
Regular (1 hr/day)2 weeks+4 weeks+5 weeks~11 weeks total
Weekend (6 hrs/week)2.5 weeks+4.5 weeks+6 weeks~13 weeks total

Estimates assume the hour totals from the roadmap above and steady daily or weekly play. Boss event timing and server population will push these numbers around. The U-cell farming calculator covers the currency side separately.

Farming tips that actually move the clock

Most of the Mothra climb comes down to boss farming for Silk Thread and the Pollen Core. These are the levers that shorten it.

1

Join full servers for every Mothra boss window

The dual-phase boss clears faster with a full lobby, which means more phase completions per session and more chances at Silk Thread and, later, the Pollen Core.

2

Farm the level gate and the material drop in the same session

Cocoon's Level 35 requirement and the Silk Thread farm both come from playing through the same boss content. Chasing them separately wastes time you could spend on both at once.

3

Redeem active codes before you start saving U-cells

The Queen stage alone needs 1400 U-cells. Free U-cells from current codes chip away at that before you touch your farmed currency.

4

Track your own drop counts instead of trusting a fixed rate

The 18, 22, and 12 percent figures here come from community tracking, not official numbers. Server luck varies, and SULU KAKA has adjusted rates before without a patch note.

5

Confirm the recipe in your evolution menu before committing materials

Fusion costs shift between updates. Read the recipe preview for Larvae, Cocoon, and Queen before spending U-cells or materials on the wrong stage.

Is the full climb to Mothra Queen worth it?

Mothra is worth building past Larvae if you want an area-of-effect kit that most early forms do not have. Larvae alone is B tier and mostly a mobility pick, useful for getting around the map but not for carrying fights on its own.

Cocoon is where the kit starts pulling weight in event grinding, since the Silk Thread boss farm already puts you in AoE-heavy fights. A lot of players stop here. It is the point where the time investment and the payoff line up best.

Queen is the expensive tail end: 37 of the 79 total hours for a sustained-fire upgrade. It matters most in long boss fights and does relatively little for quick PvP duels. If you play arena more than events, Godzilla Minus One or Destoroyah Form 4 pay off faster for the same U-cell budget. The best kaiju tier list breaks down where each form actually ranks.

FAQ: getting Mothra in Kaiju Alpha

How do you get Mothra in Kaiju Alpha?

Mothra comes in three separate forms unlocked one at a time: Larvae, Cocoon, and Queen. Larvae needs Level 20, 350 U-cells, and an Egg Fragment. Cocoon needs Level 35, 900 U-cells, and three Silk Thread drops from the Mothra boss event. Queen needs Level 55, 1400 U-cells, and a Pollen Core from the Lunar Event. Budget close to 79 hours total starting from nothing.

How do you get Mothra Larvae in Kaiju Alpha?

Reach Kaiju Level 20, save 350 U-cells, and farm an Egg Fragment. The fragment drops at roughly 18 percent per Breach Point event clear based on community tracking, so plan on 4 to 6 runs. Once you hold all three, the Larvae evolution unlocks in the kaiju menu.

How do you evolve Mothra Larvae into Cocoon?

Level your Larvae to 35, gather 900 U-cells, and farm three Silk Thread drops from the Mothra boss event, the same dual-phase fight referenced in the arena stage guide. Silk Thread drops at around 22 percent per boss phase cleared. Finish the Metamorphosis Trial mission after that and Cocoon unlocks.

How do you get Mothra Queen in Kaiju Alpha?

From Cocoon, reach Level 55, save 1400 U-cells, and farm a Pollen Core from the Lunar Event, a night-cycle spawn with roughly a 12 percent drop rate. Complete the Queen's Ascension alliance mission and the fusion goes through. This is the longest single stage at around 37 hours.

Is Mothra worth getting in Kaiju Alpha?

Larvae alone is B tier and mostly a mobility pick. Cocoon is where the kit starts pulling weight in event grinding, since the Silk Thread farm already puts you in AoE-heavy fights. Queen is the expensive tail end at 37 of the 79 total hours, and it matters most in long boss fights rather than quick PvP duels. If you play arena more than events, Godzilla Minus One or Destoroyah Form 4 pay off faster for the same U-cell budget.

What tier is Mothra Larvae in Kaiju Alpha?

Larvae launched at B tier in Update 25. It has a mobile kit with area coverage that few other B tier forms match, but its damage ceiling sits below Suko. Most players treat it as a stepping stone rather than a long-term main.

Can you skip straight to Mothra Queen without playing Larvae first?

No. The evolution chain is sequential: Larvae unlocks first, Cocoon requires an existing Larvae, and Queen requires an existing Cocoon. There is no direct purchase or shortcut past any of the three stages as of Update 25.

What is the fastest way to farm Mothra Silk Thread?

Join full servers during the Mothra boss window so the fight clears fast enough to get multiple phase completions per session. Farm Silk Thread and the Cocoon level requirement in the same session, since both come from grinding that boss window. Splitting them across separate sessions wastes spawns.
